Privacy Policy

FuelScribe provides nutrition, food diary, fitness, and related personal tracking features. This Privacy Policy explains what information FuelScribe processes, why it is processed, and the choices available to users.

Information FuelScribe Collects

Account Information

FuelScribe uses account authentication to provide access to the application and synchronize user data. Depending on the sign-in method selected, FuelScribe may receive a user account identifier, email address, name or profile name, and authentication information provided through Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, and FuelScribe's authentication provider.

FuelScribe does not receive or store your Apple ID or Google account password.

Nutrition and Food Diary Information

FuelScribe stores information you create while using the app, including food diary entries, calorie and nutrient values, nutrition targets, meal groups, completed diary days, favorite and custom foods, custom meals, recipes, repeated-food schedules, serving information, and related nutrition preferences.

This information may be synchronized with FuelScribe's backend so it can be retained and restored for your FuelScribe account.

Apple Health Information

FuelScribe can optionally request read-only access to selected information from Apple Health, including body weight, workouts, and active energy associated with workouts. Apple Health access is optional and requires your permission.

FuelScribe does not write information to Apple Health. Weight history, including manually entered weights and weights imported from Apple Health, is synchronized with FuelScribe's Supabase backend and linked to your FuelScribe account so it can be retained and restored on devices signed into that account. Synchronized weight entries include the measurement, date, source, and identifiers used to avoid duplicate entries.

Workout entries and the active energy associated with those workouts are processed and retained on your device. They are not included in FuelScribe account synchronization.

Turning off weight import stops future imports but does not delete entries already imported or synchronized. You can delete weight entries in FuelScribe or delete your FuelScribe account and its synchronized data.

You can change Apple Health permissions at any time through iOS Settings or the Health app. FuelScribe does not use Apple Health information for advertising, marketing, or data brokerage.

Diagnostic and Service Information

FuelScribe may process limited technical information necessary to operate and improve the service, such as application version and platform, request type, response status, request latency, cache status, retry and fallback status, and categorized service errors.

FuelScribe telemetry is designed not to include food search text, barcodes, food names, user IDs, email addresses, authentication tokens, request bodies, or other unnecessary personal content.

Meal Photos

Where available, meal photo analysis uses Apple's on-device Foundation Model. Photos and portion notes are not sent to FuelScribe's backend or a third-party AI service for analysis. Photo analysis requires a supported device, iOS 27 or later, and Apple Intelligence availability. Food entries you choose to save from an estimate are synchronized as food diary information.

How Information Is Used

FuelScribe uses information to authenticate users; provide and synchronize nutrition tracking features; display food diary and nutrition information; calculate nutrition totals and progress; provide saved foods, custom foods, recipes, and repeated items; provide optional weight, workout, and nutrition trends; retrieve food and restaurant nutrition information; maintain security and service reliability; diagnose service failures; and improve application functionality.

FuelScribe does not use personal information for third-party behavioral advertising, does not sell personal information, and does not use user information to track users across unrelated third-party apps or websites.

Service Providers and External Data Sources

FuelScribe uses third-party services to operate portions of the application. These may include Supabase for authentication, database services, and account-scoped application data; Apple for Sign in with Apple and optional Apple Health access; Google for Google Sign-In; Cloudflare and Render for selected API, caching, and operational services; USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts for food and nutrition data; and FatSecret for supported restaurant and menu nutrition information.

FuelScribe limits information sent to these services to what is reasonably necessary to provide the requested functionality.

Data Security

FuelScribe uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Data Retention

FuelScribe retains account and synchronized application data while your FuelScribe account remains active or as otherwise necessary to provide the service. Diagnostic information may be retained for a limited period as necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve FuelScribe.

Information may be retained longer when required by applicable law or when reasonably necessary to resolve security, fraud, abuse, or legal matters.

Account and Data Deletion

FuelScribe users may initiate deletion of their FuelScribe account from the account controls within the application. Account deletion removes the FuelScribe account and associated user data maintained by FuelScribe, except information FuelScribe is legally required to retain.

Information controlled separately by third parties, including Apple, Google, or Apple Health, remains subject to those services' own account and data controls. Deleting FuelScribe does not delete information stored independently in Apple Health.

Your Choices

You may choose between supported authentication providers, decline Apple Health access, change or revoke Apple Health permissions, edit or delete nutrition information in FuelScribe, sign out of FuelScribe, and request deletion of your FuelScribe account and associated data.

Children's Privacy

FuelScribe is not specifically designed or marketed for children.

Information provided through FuelScribe should not be considered a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

Changes to This Policy

FuelScribe may update this Privacy Policy as the application or its data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
